Give Brooklyn

November 28, 2011

Living in Brooklyn is pretty great. We have the best of the best here: great parks, creative neighbors, excellent shopping {hello Brooklyn Flea!} and of course, some of the best food you could ever imagine eating. So it’s no wonder the fancy ladies over at Early Bird put together an amazing gift box for the holiday season. The Give Brooklyn “box,” which is actually a bag, comes in re-purposed burlap from Stone St Coffee Co. It contains the following Brooklyn delights: McClure’s Bloody Mary Mix, Early Bird Granola, 750mL of Salvatore Brooklyn olive oil, a jar of Maiden Preserves, Fine and Raw chocolate, and Liddabit sea salt caramels.

I was lucky enough to design the logo for this great idea. It was fun to be able to contribute since, if you know me, my food wouldn’t really make it too far.

The Give Brooklyn box will run you $75 and a portion of every gift sold will go to a Brooklyn-based, food-driven charity. Whether you’re local or just a fan of Brooklyn and fine foods, this makes a holiday gift. Go on, order a few for your nearest and dearest!

Below is the final logo we decided on

Soft & Sophisticated :: Caroline Cole Branding

November 3, 2011

Here is some fresh branding for you all today. Caroline Cole, an interior designer based out of Nantucket, needed a complete look for her new business. We wanted to set her up with a whole suite of all the business essentials; custom cards, social notes and the always classic letterhead. Caroline radiates warmth and was looking for a clean and sophisticated way to represent that through her paper products. Everything was letterpress printed on a cool gray Strathmore stock that we special ordered for the job. For the business cards we went for a double thick, duplex stock with a unique letterpress blind impression pattern on the top and crisp fonts to play up the sophistication factor. The real kick is the delicious edge painting {my fav!} that adds a modern punch. Her letterhead and stationery work the clean and cool theme we have going on and custom envelope linings seal the deal.

Birth of a logo

October 27, 2011

I do a lot of logo work over here, and truth me told- it’s not easy! Logos take a lot of time, research and above all trial and error. I am currently printing new business cards and it got me thinking about how I created my little Swiss Cottage logo. I spent hours drawing and redrawing the logo idea I had in my head and nothing was working for me. I was on a flight to visit my Grandparents in Michigan and I started sketching. I was being really loose, almost sloppy with my sketches but in that I ended up coming up with the logo for the biz. It was felt like the right one and I loved that it was straight from my sketchbook and not super perfect. It’s funny how sometimes it’s all about research and design and other times it just creeps up on you.

FRESH design

October 21, 2010

The most important thing when starting a business is having your identity on lock down. Your look and aesthetic all add to who you are as a brand.  This particular client is a design consultant that specializes in designing commercial kitchens, bars, and cafeterias. He has a very modern and clean approach to the industry and wanted his identity to convey that. Based on some of his ideas we came up with a few different looks for his company. Below are two of those looks, enjoy!
